Japan Biodesign and Other Organizations from Around the Country and the World Visit the Institute to Learn about Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Collaboration is the cornerstone of the Fogarty Institute, and one way we help elevate the medical technology ecosystem is by sharing our expertise in entrepreneurship with companies and organizations that have similar goals and aspirations.
Recent and upcoming visitors to the Fogarty Institute include Congressman Ro Khanna, representing the 17th District of California; Japan Biodesign from Osaka, Tokyo; a group of entrepreneurs from Italy, organized by EmiliaRomagnaStartup; Chiyoda Corporation, a prominent Japanese engineering company; the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (JCEI), one of the top-ranked entrepreneurship program worldwide and part of the Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business; and lastly, students from Arizona State University.
“At the Fogarty Institute, we embrace opportunities to share our knowledge with a broad range of like-minded organizations, all in an effort to advance our industry as a whole,” said Andrew Cleeland. “Last month, for example, we were delighted to host the Japan Biodesign Fellows through our partnership with Stanford Biodesign. We are consistently impressed with their intellectual curiosity and desire to learn firsthand the process for transforming a vision from ideation to market.”
This is the third class of Japan Fellows to visit Silicon Valley as part of Stanford Biodesign’s global program, which has helped inspire or advise more than 18 educational programs across the world that help innovators learn and implement the biodesign innovation process to improve lives.
During their visit to the Institute, the Japan delegation learned more about the Institute’s mission, history and plans for the future. Following this meeting, the team toured the Institute workshops, allowing them to meet informally with several of our companies-in-residence. The visit was a great success overall, providing both parties the opportunity to learn more about one other’s programs and explore ways to collaborate.
