Please join us for an opportunity to meet and learn from Hira V. Thapliyal, one of the most important innovators in interventional cardiology. Humble, funny, and wildly accomplished, Hira came to the US for his education, then got his introduction to medical devices working at Corning Glassworks. His path led to California and then to John Simpson, MD and Paul Yock, MD, where he worked on DVI’s atherectomy device and co-founded CVIS,. He also co-founded ArthroCare, which patented Coblation, a pioneering technique using RF energy in joint surgery and other applications.

25th Annual Thomas J. Fogarty, MD Lecture
Friday, September 29, 5 – 7:00 pm
For 25 years, the Fogarty Lecture series has inspired us with the stories of healthcare visionaries whose inventions and leadership have transformed patient care. In this milestone event, surgeon-innovator Carla Pugh will explore the historical context of the lectureship, and founder Tom Krummel will highlight the most influential ideas surfaced on this stage and the ethos of collaboration in Silicon Valley that helped them flourish.
We’ll also hear about some of the biggest ideas shaping the path ahead from Josh Makower, Director of Stanford Biodesign, and Andrew Cleeland, CEO of Fogarty Innovation. Reception follows the lecture.

Building on last year’s successful inaugural TCT MedTech Innovation Forum, the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and Fogarty Innovation are joining forces again to convene a global assembly of key stakeholders involved in medtech innovation. The forum will feature three dynamic session tracks: Global Market Dynamics, Hot Topics in MedTech Innovation, and FDA University for Startups, with digital health woven throughout.
